The VA Aid & Attendance benefit provides financial assistance to eligible wartime veterans and surviving spouses who require help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, or meal preparation.
This tax-free benefit is in addition to the VA pension and helps cover the costs of:

Most LTCI policies require a licensed healthcare professional to certify that the insured needs assistance due to a cognitive impairment (like Alzheimer's) or an inability to perform at least two out of six Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

VA Self Directed Care
Veteran Directed Care (VDC) is an innovative VA program that gives eligible Veterans the flexibility and freedom to manage their own long-term care services at home. Instead of a predetermined schedule, you are given a budget to direct your own care and hire the caregivers of your choice, which can include family members.
Eligibility

Enrolled in VA healthcare.
